 Augustiner-Chorherren-
und Nonnenklosterkirche
Bei der ehemaligen Klosterkirche und heutigen Pfarrkirche handelt
es sich, neben der ehemaligen Klosterkirche in Arendsee, um eine
der besterhaltensten spätromanischen Bauten der Altmark.
Sie ist darüber hinaus die älteste (frühes 13.
Jh.) gewölbte altmärkische Kirche im voll ausgebildeten
gebundenen System. Das Äußere des Backsteinbaues belegt
die sichere Beherrschung des Materials und die überlegte
Anwendung der Schmuckformen. Interessant ist das reichverzierte
Portal an der Stirnwand des südlichen Querschiffes. |
Augustinian
Canons' and Nunnery Cloister Church
Together with the former monastery church in Arendsee, the former
cloister church and present-day parish church is one of the best
preserved buildings in the Late Romanesque style in the Altmark region. In
addition, it is the oldest (early 13th century) vaulted
church in the Altmark region in the fully evolved bound system.
The outside of the brickwork building is proof of the supreme
mastery of the material and a well-thought-out application of
decorative elements. The richly decorated portal at the front
wall of the southern transept is of particular interest.
