 Figurengrabstein
Unweit von Genthin, im Ortsteil Altenplathow, befindet sich in
der ehemaligen Sakristei und heutigen "Plotho-Stube"
der Dorfkirche eine der ältesten romanischen Figurengrabplatten
der Gegend. Es handelt sich hierbei um das Grabmal vom einst
hier auf der ehemaligen Burg Plote seßhaft gewesenen slawischen,
erzbischöflich-magdeburgischen Lehensmann Hermann von Plotho
(gestorben 1170). Das Grabmal stammt aus dem romanischen Feldsteinbau,
dem Vorgänger des heutigen Backsteinbaues der Dorfkirche. |

Tomb Slab
Not far from Genthin, in the former village of Altenplatow, the
former sacristy and present-day 'Plotho Room' of the village
church accommodates one of the oldest Romanesque effigy tomb
slabs of the region. This is the tomb of Hermann von Plotho (died
1170), a Slav vassal of the archbishop of Magdeburg, who used
to reside here at the ancient Plote Castle. The tomb is a fine
example of Romanesque fieldstone masonry, the predecessor of
the brick masonry seen today in the village church.
