 Friedhofskapelle
Der seit dem 17. Jh. als Friedhofskapelle genutzte Bau beinhaltet
Reste der ehemaligen Kirche des alten Dorfes Alvensleben und ist der
Überlieferung nach in seiner Entstehung eine der 35 unter Bischof
Hildegrim von Halberstadt im 9. Jh. gegründeten Taufkirchen St.
Stephan. Der vorhandene Kern der Kirche stammt wohl aus dem 10.
Jh.
Die Nord- und Südwand mit feingliedrigem Gesims aus Platte und
Wulst ist erhaltener romanischer Bestandteil.

Cemetery
Chapel
The building, which has been used as a cemetery chapel since the
17th century, contains fragments of the former church of the ancient
village of Alvensleben, which, according to the records, originated
as one of the 35 baptisteries of St Stephan founded under bishop
Hildegrim von Halberstadt in the 9th century. The existing core of
the church may well date back to the 10th century. The north and
south walls with their slender-boned cornice of slab and swelling
have survived from Romanesque times.
